The Android Software Engineer builds and supports Spirit Airlines’ Android mobile applications, delivering features that power booking, check-in, loyalty, and guest self-service experiences. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable mobile solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and Java
- Participate fully in Agile ceremonies and sprint execution
- Collaborate with iOS, API, QA, and Product teams to deliver cohesive mobile experiences
- Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Android builds and releases
- Monitor app performance and support production incident resolution
- Apply best practices for mobile security, performance, and maintainability
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 3-5 years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years of Android application development
- Experience supporting production mobile apps
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin (Java a plus)
- Experience with Android SDK, Jetpack components, and Material Design
- REST API integration and mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, etc.)
- Experience with automated testing and CI/CD
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Dynatrace, Splunk is a plus
- Travel or airline industry experience is a plus
