This is you

  • 6+ years of professional experience as a PHP Developer (strong experience with PHP 7.x)
  • Deep understanding of PHP internals, PSR-4 autoloading, and large-scale PHP project structures
  • Extensive experience working with complex legacy codebases, including procedural code and mixed architectural styles
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills, with the ability to trace execution flow across large, poorly documented systems
  • Confident working in Linux-based environments:
    • SSH access
    • Shell scripting and command-line tools
    • Executing and debugging PHP CLI scripts
  • Ability to read and understand code written in other languages (especially Java) to analyze and follow workflow logic
  • Hands-on experience with cron jobs, background processing, and system automation
  • Proven ability to perform deep root-cause analysis and deliver long-term, stable solutions
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable taking ownership of complex areas of the system and making technical decisions under uncertainty
  • Mentoring mindset: able to support and guide less experienced developers through reviews and knowledge sharing
  • Good command of English, at least at an upper-intermediate level.
This is your role

  • Take ownership of maintaining, debugging, and extending a large PHP 7.4 legacy codebase without modern frameworks
  • Lead investigation of complex production issues by tracing logic through legacy and inconsistently structured code
  • Drive root-cause analysis and implement reliable, long-term fixes for critical system issues
  • Work closely with business teams, analysts, and developers to clarify undocumented logic and system behavior
  • Execute, test, and validate application logic triggered by cron jobs, Camunda workflows, and PHP CLI scripts
  • Review logs and system metrics to proactively identify risks and system weaknesses
  • Collaborate with team leads to define and execute incremental improvements to code quality and technical debt reduction
  • Support and mentor team members through code reviews, debugging sessions, and technical discussions
  • Understand and follow existing Camunda (Java-based) workflows (read-only; no Java development required)
