Head of IT – Austria

Lead a mission-critical technology transformation

A well-established international consumer business with a strong footprint in Austria is looking for an experienced Head of IT to take ownership of its local technology landscape and lead a major multi-year transformation journey.

This is a hands-on leadership role with real influence across manufacturing, retail, and corporate functions, reporting into senior local leadership and working closely with international Group IT.

Your mission

• Own the end-to-end IT responsibility for the Austrian organisation (manufacturing, retail, and office environments)
• Lead and develop a local IT team across business applications, infrastructure & security, and project delivery
• Drive preparation and delivery of a large-scale ERP and application modernisation programme
• Act as the bridge between business and technology, translating complex topics into clear, practical outcomes
• Partner closely with local executives, international Group IT, and external technology providers
• Ensure business continuity while transitioning from legacy systems to modern platforms
• Support parallel initiatives such as security improvements, retail rollouts, and new digital concepts

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role within a complex business environment
• Strong background delivering large IT transformations (ERP or core system modernisation experience highly valued)
• A business-partner mindset – you enjoy being close to operations, not running IT as a back office
• Confident communicator who can engage non-technical stakeholders at executive level
• Experience leading, motivating, and upskilling teams through change
• Industry background in consumer goods, retail, manufacturing, or similarly dynamic environments is a plus (not essential)

Languages

• Fluent or native German is essential
• Professional English required for international collaboration
