GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES) is a global jet engine MRO based at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, Finland. We are now looking for a skilled and proactive IT Field Engineer to join our IT team and support our growing international operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing our IT infrastructure, supporting end users, and ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient IT services across multiple locations. You will work hands-on with servers, networks, endpoints, and cloud technologies, and collaborate closely with both local and international stakeholders.

This position is well suited for someone who enjoys a varied role, takes ownership of technical challenges, and is comfortable working in an international, fast-paced environment. At GATES, we value teamwork and close collaboration, and we work on-site at our office right at the heart of aviation activity – at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. This is a full-time permanent position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a System Administrator, IT Support Specialist, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies
  • Proficiency in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Experience with backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and endpoint protection
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and task efficiency
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Finnish skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, Red Hat, Cisco CCNA)
  • Experience with monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
  • Exposure to DevOps environments or CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain company IT infrastructure (servers, network, endpoints)
  • Ensure system availability, security, and performance
  • Support end users with technical issues and provide helpdesk escalation support
  • Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents as needed
  • Maintenance and support of all types of personal computing hardware, including laptops, desktops, and iPads
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Servers and related services
  • Conducting penetration testing and utilizing cybersecurity tools for vulnerability analysis and threat assessment
  • Installation of operating systems and business-critical software on end-user devices
  • Network infrastructure support, including troubleshooting and physical cabling
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM)
  • Administration and support of the printing infrastructure
  • Direct support for two sites in Finland and five international locations, 400+ users
  • Availability for flexible working hours to meet business needs across time zones , Finland, UK, Turkey
