About the roles:

We are now strengthening our Cloud team with two Senior Software Engineers, each focusing on AI‑driven development in a different area: one role strengthens our Cloud capabilities, while the other enhances our Mobile (iOS/Android) applications. While the technical focus differs, both roles share the same mission to build reliable, user‑friendly AI features that enrich the Suunto experience and help our users train, explore and perform at their best.

Senior Software Engineer – AI, Cloud

Key activities for the role:

• Develop and maintain cloud services that support both AI-powered features and non-AI backend functionality for the Suunto app.
• Implement and operate backend building blocks for AI features, such as:
• prompt orchestration and structured outputs
• model integration layer and API abstraction
• caching, rate limiting, and cost control
• reliability mechanisms and graceful fallbacks
• Collaborate with product owners, feature owners, UX/UI designers, and mobile teams to define APIs, technical designs, and delivery plans.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and backend capabilities needed for insights and personalisation.
• Ensure system health, performance, and availability via monitoring and logging, including incident response and root cause analysis.

You should have the following qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend or cloud development, preferably with large-scale or consumer-facing services.
• Proven experience building production services with Spring / Spring Boot.
• Python, Node.JS, Kotlin and Java development experience.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerised deployments.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services including Storage Accounts and Service Bus, and related infrastructure.
• Strong experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and agile development practices.
• Experience integrating third-party AI models and building production-grade AI features.

Senior Software Engineer – AI, Mobile (iOS / Android)

Key activities for the role:

• Develop and maintain new AI-powered user features and non-AI features in Suunto’s mobile applications.
• Turn product ideas into shippable experiences such as workout feedback, training summaries, trend insights, and personalised guidance.
• Collaborate with designers, product owners, and backend teams to define user flows, APIs, and delivery plans.
• Implement reliable and user-friendly AI UX patterns.
• Ensure quality through clean architecture, automated testing, and code reviews.
• Monitor stability and performance.

You should have the following qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on native mobile development experience (iOS and/or Android).
• Experience shipping production features in a consumer-facing app.
• Experience developing or integrating AI-powered features (e.g., LLM-based experiences).
• Strong understanding of modern mobile architecture patterns, testing, and CI/CD.
• iOS: Swift, SwiftUI/UIKit, async/await (or equivalent), RxSwift
• Android: Kotlin, Jetpack/Compose, Coroutines/Flow (or equivalent), RxJava
• Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) development and sharing business logic across platforms.
• Strong native mobile engineering skills (iOS and/or Android), including performance optimisation.
• Product-oriented mindset with ability to build AI-assisted experiences users can trust.
• Practical understanding of LLM-based products
