About The Role
We’re looking for an AI Engineer to join our growing data and AI team and help us create human-centric, AI-powered solutions that make a real-world impact.
In this role, you'll work in multidisciplinary teams to design, build and deliver intelligent systems and services for our clients across industries like energy, retail, mobility, and public services. To get a sense of our work, explore our Neste AI assistant project and our experiment-driven approach to AI delivery. We work across a wide range of challenges, and no two projects look the same. To get a feel for the breadth of what we do, take a look at our Service Lines.
Your focus will be applying machine learning, generative AI and data-driven methods to solve meaningful challenges, from prototypes to production-grade applications. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, experiment with the latest AI tooling, and develop your skills through real-life consulting projects. We’re looking for people with a strong technical foundation, curiosity to learn, and a drive to make technology useful, usable and responsible.

Our salary model is designed to offer a range of levels based on three factors: skills, responsibilities and impact. During the initial interview round, we will discuss the salary range for this position. We offer a fixed salary with the possibility of performance-based bonuses and additional benefits.

About The Role

What You’ll Do
- Design and develop machine learning and AI solutions, including generative AI applications (leveraging LLMs and multimodal foundation models)
- Build and maintain production-ready pipelines using modern MLOps practices
- Work with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
- Contribute to improving how we use and implement AI in a sustainable and ethical way
- Work in cross-functional teams with designers, developers and domain experts
- Take part in client workshops and technical discovery sessions
- Share knowledge and collaborate actively within the team
- A few years of hands-on experience in machine learning, data science or data engineering
- Solid Python skills and experience with modern ML/GenAI libraries and tools (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, or similar)
- Some familiarity with agentic frameworks (e.g. OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain/LangGraph, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel)
- Basic familiarity with MLOps tooling and AI platforms (e.g. MLflow, Vertex AI, SageMaker, Azure ML)
- Experience deploying ML or AI models into production environments
- Understanding of data pipelines, APIs and integration with backend systems
- Experience working with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP)
- Curiosity to stay up to date with AI trends and willingness to grow your expertise
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with different stakeholders
- A growth mindset and eagerness to develop both technically and professionally
- Fluent professional English and Finnish

- Role, expectations & projects interview (60 min, Live or Google Meet) A conversation focusing on your potential role, expectations, and upcoming projects. This interview is typically with your potential supervisor and a Principal-level team member.
