The Business Data Scientist Specialist is a crucial link between Business functions and the IT/Data teams, supporting the value creation data, contributing to implementing the data governance strategy, producing specific reporting and KPIs, fostering a strong data culture across the organisation and ensuring that data is accessible, reliable, consistent, and easily usable.
Main Activities & Responsibilities
The Business Data & Scientist Specialist will manage the end-to-end operational aspects of business data, collaborating closely with various stakeholders of the organisation to ensure optimal data performance, utility and usability.
a. Data Governance & Operational Management
- Operational Management: Oversee the operational management of key business data (e.g., customers, products, markets, channels, territory ), ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and alignment .
- Policy Application: Adopt and enforce data governance policies.
- Master Data: Manage reference master data , ensuring cross-functional data consistency.
- Reporting Improvement: Collaborating with Business stakeholders to produce, organise and deploy specific data and KPis able to support decisions and monitor results.
- Data Scientist Peculiarities: Combining the analytical (data scientist) power with a strategic, decision-making (business official) mandate:
- Ensuring high-quality, reliable datasets availability for advanced analytics.
- Clarifying data lineage and definitions to promote models are built consistently.
- Supporting the correct integration of analytical outputs back into business processes.
- Applied Scientist : uunderstand the business context to ensure the model is practical and effective.
- Data Literacy: Contributing and promoting excellent data practices across all business unit.
- User Enablement: Provide support to business users on the creation, dissemination and correct usage of data and global and local analytical tools like BI, dashboards, CRM analytics, ERP and other global or local systems .
The candidate needs to combine a strong technical understanding of data principles with excellent communication, understanding and collaboration skills.
Academic & Technical Background
- In-depth knowledge of the principles of data governance, data quality, and MDM.
- Familiarity with presentation tools (e.g., Oracle, Power BI, Databricks) and a basic AI concepts.
- Experience with major ERP/CRM systems is preferred.
- Proven capacity for analysis and synthesis in data handling and problem-solving.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- A mindset oriented towards efficiency, continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated traits of precision, flexibility, and methodical work .
- Relevant experience in a data-focused role (e.g., Data Steward, Data Analyst, or similar) where data quality and governance were key responsibilities.
- Fluency in English and the local operational language (if applicable) is highly desirable.
