Overview / Summary:
We are seeking a Python Backend Engineer to join a high-impact AI-focused project. The role involves building and scaling production-grade backend services, with a strong emphasis on cloud-native architectures and AI platform integrations. The project will be delivered by a team of six engineers working collaboratively to design, implement, and optimise robust backend solutions.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python for production environments
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python for production environments
- Develop and deploy cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, and S3
- Integrate AI and foundation model services using platforms such as AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex, or Microsoft AI Foundry
- Analyse and optimise application performance through profiling, debugging, and refactoring
- Collaborate closely with other engineers and stakeholders to deliver scalable and reliable solutions
- Contribute to architectural decisions, code quality standards, and best practices across the team
Mandatory Requirements:
- +5 years of experience in Backend Development with Python and experience building and operating production applications
- Experience with AWS services, including Lambda, EC2, S3, and their APIs
- Proven expertise in designing, building, and consuming GraphQL APIs
- Strong background in performance optimisation using Python profiling, debugging, and refactoring tools
- Experience with AI platform APIs (AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex, Microsoft AI Foundry, or similar)
- Knowledge of prompt engineering and experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack, or other RAG solutions is a plus
