In the context of our Digital Transformation we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for the ‘P&C Retail Distributor Sales’ team.

You will help bring about our Digital Transformation of the P&C Retail Sales process through the distribution channel, in support of our brokers and partners.

This transformation will allow our brokers and partners to work with us, by means of either a Front-end, which will be developed in house, or APIs, which our partners will integrate in their own front-ends. The Front-end and APIs will be integrated in our existing legacy backend systems.

As a Senior Software Engineer you main tasks include:

• You create efficient design, application using Java technologies, you will join the Java engineering communities and participate in the DevOps and Cloud journeys on Amazon Web Services
• You steer the evolution of engineering products and tools (SonarQube, SwaggerHub…) and maintain standards, venture in new concepts, help to prototype and adopt new methodologies and architectures
• You will deepen your expertise in areas like security, event-driven architecture, API management, serverless…
• You play an active role in Agile ceremonies and often take the lead as part of the Agile delivery process (Quarterly Planning, grooming sessions, Sprint planning, daily scrum)
• You will become a proactive team member ensuring an efficient, qualitative and sustainable software delivery, in active collaboration with the business product owners and the IT teams
• You will leverage your expertise to guide the technical team and ensure continuous follow-up, build a global overview of the technical solution, and propose alternatives when appropriate

What you bring to the table

As a Senior Software Engineer, you have:

Technical skills

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience working on real-world projects
• At least 3 years experience as a Java-developer
• Working knowledge of a variety of programming languages (Python, Javascript,…)
• At least 1 year of experience in managing highly complex integration landscapes (API, SOA, MQ and ETL technologies,...)
• Experience in AWS cloud, using Infrastructure as code
• Experience with monitoring tools (Dynatrace,…)
• Thorough understanding of the SDLC (branching strategy and any related build & release automations)
• IT security mindset
• A test-driven development approach is highly appreciated

Soft skills

• Full working proficiency in English and one of the national languages (French or Dutch)
• Ability to coordinate, delegate, supervise.
• Active learning mindset
• Good and adaptative communication skills with various audience (including business, functional engineer, offshore, management)
• Flexibility and team mindset
• Eager to take up challenges
