Data Centre IT Operations Manager

A well-capitalised international data centre operator is seeking an experienced Data Centre IT Operations Manager to lead the IT operations function across live mission-critical data centre facilities in Finland.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for 24/7 IT operations, covering server hardware, network infrastructure, in-house systems, data security, and regulatory compliance within a Tier III / Tier IV environment.

The Role

You will be accountable for the stability, security, and optimisation of all IT hardware, network, and systems supporting data centre operations, while leading and developing a high-performing on-site IT team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leadership of site-based IT operations teams (servers, networks, systems)
• End-to-end responsibility for server hardware, network equipment, and in-house systems
• Design, build, and maintenance of data centre internal networks and supporting platforms
• Incident management and rapid response to hardware, network, or system failures
• Ownership of data security, GDPR compliance, and IT operational controls
• Delivery of IT security audits, drills, and vulnerability assessments
• Performance optimisation of hardware, networks, and systems
• Ownership of IT O&M budgets, procurement, and vendor management
• Close collaboration with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure integrated operations
• IT leadership support for data centre expansions and upgrades

Key Requirements

• Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, IT, or Network Engineering
• 5+ years’ experience in data centre or mission-critical IT operations
• Proven experience managing on-site IT operations teams
• Strong hands-on knowledge of servers, networks, and data centre systems
• Experience operating within Tier III / Tier IV environments
• Strong understanding of GDPR and EU data protection requirements
• Comfortable leading IT operations in a 24/7, high-availability environment

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in Finland or the Nordic region
• Strong understanding of EN 50600 standards
• Experience working with internal data centre networks and telecom providers
• Exposure to Arctic or cold-climate data centre infrastructure
• CCNP / CCIE, server hardware certifications, ITIL, or GDPR Practitioner
