RSI Europe is a rapidly growing defense technology company based in Vilnius, Lithuania, developing and producing advanced remotely operated systems for modern military operations. Our mission is to empower armed forces with reliable, innovative, and field-proven solutions that enhance operational efficiency and safety.
RSI Europe is looking for new colleagues in the autonomy team. We’re expanding our UAV capabilities and looking for a colleagues to design and deliver robust guidance, navigation, and control solutions for challenging operational environments. You’ll work closely with our embedded, avionics, payload, and test teams to ship mission-ready systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and validate GNC algorithms for multirotor UAVs, including: State estimation (sensor fusion with IMU, GNSS, barometer, magnetometer, visual/optical flow); Attitude and position control (PID/LQR/MPC), trajectory generation, and waypoint following; Guidance logic for autonomous modes (takeoff/landing, loiter, RTL, failsafes).
- Support or maintain flight software (embedded C/C++) development, integrating GNC modules on the flight hardware.
- Integrate navigation systems (GNSS, RTK, visual‑inertial odometry, altimetry, computer vision) and ensure robust performance in GNSS‑challenged/denied conditions.
- Own system modeling and simulation using Gazebo, Matlab/Simulink, or Python for performance analysis, controller tuning, Monte Carlo, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with hardware, avionics, and firmware teams for seamless sensor integration, timing, and signal integrity.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation, including flight tests, log analysis, and regression testing.
- Implement safety and reliability features, such as fault detection, isolation and recovery (FDIR) into GNC modules, sensor health monitoring, and redundancy management by design.
- Provide technical support during system testing, trials, manufacturing, and field deployment; assist with flight procedures and documentation.
- Track industry trends and contribute to continuous improvement of our UAV stack (controls, estimation, autonomy, tooling).
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Control Systems, Robotics, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in UAV GNC, control systems, or embedded flight software.
- Strong foundation in control theory (classical and modern), estimation (Kalman filter variants), and trajectory/mission planning.
- Solid understanding of embedded systems, microcontroller architecture, and real‑time constraints.
- Experience integrating and calibrating navigation sensors (IMU, GNSS, magnetometer, barometer, optical flow, LiDAR/ToF).
- Familiarity with flight logs, telemetry analysis, and controller tuning workflows.
Bonus skills:
- Knowledge of existing UAV software ecosystems and products.
- Knowledge of modern C++, including latest standards (C++20 and onwards), with a focus on its application in embedded systems.
- Experience with automating development processes using modern CI/CD practices.
- Experience in computer vision.
- Knowledge in machine learning (ML) and deep neural networks (DNNs).
We offer:
- A unique opportunity to join a fast-growing defense technology company in its scaling stage.
- A chance to make a direct impact on European security and support Ukraine’s victory.
- Flexible working hours and a supportive, highly motivated team, frequent team-building events, free parking.
- Private health insurance after the probation period.
- Performance-based bonuses.
- Monthly salary from 5 000 Eur (gross) depending on qualifications, competencies, and professional experience.
