Backend Engineer (Typescript/Node.js)

Role: Backend Software Engineer (Backend focussed).

Our client is an exciting, data-driven Healthtech organisation on a mission to revolutionize female health. Their award-winning app and world-first rapid hormone test form a unique, personalized platform that helps women understand and optimize their hormonal well-being in real time.

The Role:

We’re looking for an experienced, Backend Software Engineer with strong TypeScript experience to help build and scale the systems behind our mobile-first platform. You’ll design reliable, secure, and high-performing backend services that power our React Native (Expo) app and integrate seamlessly with our data, ML, and hormone testing infrastructure.

You’ll be encouraged to use AI tools to develop faster, iterate smarter, and ship high-quality features in a fast-moving startup environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using TypeScript

• Support a React Native / Expo mobile application

• Design and work with SQL and Google Cloud databases

• Develop and maintain infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Collaborate closely with mobile, ML, product, and science teams

• Ensure scalability, performance, security, and reliability

• Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up development and improve quality

What You Bring

• 4+ years of professional backend development experience

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and backend frameworks

• Solid experience with SQL, API design, and backend architecture

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and cloud-hosted databases

• Familiarity with React Native / Expo or mobile-backend collaboration

• Experience using AI tools to develop faster and more efficiently

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and clean coding practices

• Fluent in English
