About the Role:

As a Software Engineer at PhotonFirst, you will quickly become an integral part of their product software development and maintenance. You will work across the full spectrum—from understanding and interfacing with embedded product software to creating and enabling user interface applications based on APIs for both PhotonFirst's customers and internal operations team (calibration, automation, and maintenance software).

The role involves defining, structuring, and reviewing code according to best practices, ensuring high-quality outputs with effective revision control. Collaboration is at the heart of this position; You will work closely with engineers from other disciplines within PhotonFirst's team and engage in co-development with the software engineers of their suppliers and partners.

This dynamic environment offers hands-on experience, allowing you to see your developments in action. You will continuously improve PhotonFirst's software offerings by applying learnings directly from real-world applications, delivering impactful solutions to customers across various industries.

What We're Looking For:

We’re seeking a Software Engineer who thrives in the dynamic environment of a small, fast-moving company. You have a passion for high-tech innovation and are eager to dive into their unique technology.

You bring a solid educational foundation with a University (WO) or Applied Science (HBO) degree in Systems or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, combined with at least 3 years of relevant experience. This is your opportunity to take the next step in your career.

Your programming expertise includes (embedded) C, C++, and Python, and you’re well-versed in good software practices like clear documentation, code clarity and commenting, version control (GIT), and DevOps methodologies. You’re also familiar with developing libraries and user interfaces (GUIs) for both Linux and Windows, ensuring seamless system integrations for our customers.

Finally, you live in the Netherlands and are available to work (partly) from our office in Alkmaar.
