Cyber Security Analyst

Location: Hybrid / Barrow-in-Furness

Department: IT

Reporting to: Cyber Security Officer


My client are looking for a Cyber Security Analyst who is ready to take the next step in their career. You won’t just be monitoring dashboards; you’ll be a key player in maintaining the security posture, driving our GRC efforts, and ensuring that members' data remains safe and sound.


The Role

Working closely with our Cyber Security Officer, you will be at the heart of the IT defense strategy. Your mission is to assure the effectiveness of security controls and help evolve the NIST-aligned framework and Zero Trust principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • GRC Champion: Maintain our Governance, Risk, and Compliance platform, managing evidence for internal and external audits (including CQUEST and Deloitte reviews).
  • Microsoft Security Specialist: Support and monitor our Microsoft security stack (Defender, Purview, Intune, and Sentinel) to improve our Secure Score.
  • Risk & Remediation: Conduct cyber risk assessments, identify control gaps, and collaborate with Infrastructure teams to fix them.
  • Security Operations: Monitor alerts and vulnerabilities, working with our SOC teams to ensure no threat goes unnoticed.
  • Insightful Reporting: Produce performance reports and metrics that tell the story of our security maturity and identify areas for growth.
  • Culture Lead: Promote security best practices across the Society, helping colleagues stay savvy and safe.


Your technical toolkit should include:

  • Proven Experience: Significant experience in IT Security within a medium-to-large organization.
  • Microsoft Expert: Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 security tools (Defender, Intune, Sentinel).
  • Framework Fluent: A solid understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 and Zero Trust principles.
  • Audit Ready: Experience gathering evidence and supporting compliance/audit processes.
  • Qualified: Ideally, you hold a CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft Security Operations Analyst Associate certification.

There is some flexibility on the hybrid working but candidates must be open to spending at least 1 day per week in the Barrow-in-Furness head office.
