Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Data BI Consultant with strong expertise in Power BI and DAX to support a long-term data analytics and reporting programme. You will work closely with business stakeholders and data teams to design, develop, and optimise high-quality dashboards and analytical solutions that drive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for business and management use
• Create and optimise complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and data models
• Translate business requirements into clear BI solutions and visualisations
• Improve performance and usability of existing Power BI reports
• Work with multiple data sources (SQL databases, data warehouses, APIs, Excel, etc.)
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance standards
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts
• Provide documentation and knowledge transfer where required

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven freelance experience as a Data BI / Power BI Consultant
• Expert-level Power BI development experience
• Strong DAX skills (complex measures, optimisation, performance tuning)
• Solid understanding of data modelling (star schema, relationships, best practices)
• Experience working with SQL and relational databases
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work with business stakeholders
• Fluent English (French and/or Dutch is a strong plus)
• Comfortable working in a hybrid Brussels-based environment

Nice to Have

• Experience in large or complex enterprise environments
• Knowledge of Azure data services (e.g. Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory)
• Experience with Power BI Service, security (RLS), and deployment pipelines
• Background in finance, public sector, telecom, or industrial environments
