Site Reliability Engineer

About the Company
A leading European organisation operating large scale, mission critical industrial environments is expanding its Global Operations function. The company is investing heavily in automation, operational intelligence, and integrated tooling across its sites and is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to support this transformation.
Role Overview
The Site Reliability Engineer will design, integrate, and maintain digital tools that enhance automation, operational visibility, and data driven decision making across complex technical environments.
You will work at the intersection of engineering, operations, and data, connecting and optimising platforms such as:
Building Management Systems (BMS) or equivalent facility monitoring systems
Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms
Analytics and dashboarding tools
The role focuses on building practical, lightweight solutions—scripts, integrations, data pipelines, dashboards—that help operational teams work more efficiently and consistently.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Automation
- Develop automation workflows and data pipelines to replace manual tasks
- Build scripts, internal tools, and dashboards (Grafana, Power BI, SQL)
- Integrate systems such as CMMS, BMS, and ITSM
- Conduct data validation, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis
- Produce technical documentation, SOPs, and configuration templates
- Systems Integration & Tooling
- Build and maintain APIs, scripts, and connectors between operational systems
- Develop queries and logic supporting KPIs, SLAs, and reliability metrics
- Ensure alignment with the global operations tooling roadmap
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain structured technical documentation for internal teams and audits
- Document use cases, design decisions, and performance outcomes
- Track adoption and operational impact of delivered tools
- IMS & Compliance Support
- Support continuous improvement of operational systems
- Contribute to Health & Safety, Environmental, Information Security, and Energy Management reporting
- Apply secure coding practices and ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 27001 principles
Requirements
- 5+ years in systems engineering, DevOps, data engineering, or similar
- Experience in mission critical or high availability environments (industrial, manufacturing, utilities, automation, etc.)
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Strong scripting and querying skills (Python, SQL, InfluxQL/Flux)
- Experience with CMMS/ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Jira, MCIM)
- Proficiency with Grafana, Power BI, or Tableau
- Strong understanding of APIs, JSON/XML, Linux/Windows diagnostics
Preferred
- Experience with SCADA/BMS protocols (Modbus, BACnet, OPC)
- Familiarity with monitoring frameworks (Prometheus, Zabbix)
