About the Role
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and hands on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead Autzu’s engineering function. This is a rare opportunity for a builder of software platforms who has worked in or around autonomous vehicles, rideshare, mobility, or fleet technology and is ready to step into a leadership role at a fast-paced startup.
As CTO, you will be responsible for shaping our technology roadmap, scaling engineering teams, and ensuring Autzu’s proprietary software infrastructure can support growth across multiple cities and international markets.
What You’ll Do
- Define and own Autzu’s technology vision and roadmap in partnership with the CEO and executive team.
- Lead and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team (backend, frontend, mobile, embedded/IoT).
- Architect and deliver scalable, secure, and reliable software systems to manage autonomous EV fleets.
- Partner with product, operations, and hardware teams to align technology with business goals and operational requirements.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, technical documentation standards, and workflows.
- Represent Autzu’s technology strategy to investors, partners, and external stakeholders.
- Foster a builder culture rooted in collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3–5 years in engineering leadership roles (Head of Engineering, VP Eng, CTO, or equivalent).
- Proven track record of building and scaling complex platforms in mobility, rideshare, autonomous vehicles, fleet management, or related sectors is a major bonus
- Strong understanding of system architecture, infrastructure, and full application lifecycle development.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading engineering teams in high-growth or startup environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Passion for sustainable transportation, EVs, and the future of mobility.
- A degree in computer science or related subject.
Nice to Have
- Experience with hardware/software integrations, IoT systems, or connected car platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, microservices, or distributed systems.
- Prior experience scaling software in regulated or compliance-heavy industries.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation package, including equity and health benefits.
- The opportunity to define the technical foundation of a category-defining company.
- Direct influence on company roadmap, strategy, and fundraising conversations.
- Work on cutting-edge mobility, EV, and AV technologies.
- Career growth opportunities as Autzu expands across North America and globally.
- A collaborative team focused on innovation, growth, and purpose.
