Platform Engineer AZURE

Lead Azure Platform Engineer  
Location: Richmond, 3 days/week on site
Duration: 6 month contract + potential extension 

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineering Lead (Azure) to join a leading Australian Enterprise organisation to help build and modernise a self-service, product-led cloud platform.

This senior, hands-on role combines Azure platform engineering, DevOps, and people leadership to enable teams across the organisation to deliver faster and more reliably.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design, build and operation of Azure cloud platforms
• Own and evolve Azure landing zones, subscriptions, networking, and identity patterns
• Build self-service Azure platform products for application teams
• Define and publish Azure platform standards and services
• Build and support secure CI/CD pipelines and automation (GitLab)
• Champion cloud-native Infrastructure as Code across Azure
• Provide technical and people leadership within the platform engineering team
• Influence Azure platform roadmap and engineering practices

What you’ll bring

• 7 years’ experience engineering Azure cloud platform solutions
• 3+ years’ experience in a people leadership role
• Deep hands-on experience with Azure services
• Strong understanding of Azure networking, identity, security, and governance
• Experienced DevOps practitioner
• Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform preferred)
• CI/CD pipeline experience (GitLab ideal)
• Strong programming/scripting skills – Golang and/or Python preferred
• Experience with YAML, JSON, and Open Policy Agent
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in IT or related discipline
• Azure Cloud Certifications highly desirable
• Additional cloud certifications advantageous
