About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Backend Engineer to join our Supply Chain Security group. This team is pioneering a comprehensive, developer-centric approach to securing the software supply chain, from initial development to production deployment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in building and managing large-scale backend services, with a strong emphasis on security and policy enforcement. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to enhance Docker’s registry and SaaS offerings, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and user-friendly. Your contributions will directly impact how developers worldwide deliver containers more efficiently and securely, shaping the future of container security and supply chain integrity.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in building, deploying, and monitoring microservices within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages, primarily Go.
- Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, especially in high-volume scenarios.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices including code reviews, source control, CI/CD pipelines, and testing methodologies.
- Experience working autonomously within distributed, remote teams.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure security, policy enforcement, or compliance frameworks such as SLSA, SOC 2, or FedRAMP is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and monitor microservices and serverless components in AWS to support scalable infrastructure.
- Build and enhance automation tooling, including GitHub Actions, Argo CD, and Grafana dashboards, to streamline operations.
- Tackle high-performance engineering challenges to ensure efficient and secure delivery of container images and associated metadata.
- Design and implement security and compliance policies across the entire delivery pipeline to safeguard the software supply chain.
- Collaboratively own the security posture and developer experience related to secure container images, ensuring best practices are followed.
- Engage in continuous improvement of infrastructure, security protocols, and operational processes to support organizational goals.
