C++ Software Engineer – High-Frequency Trading

A leading quantitative trading firm is hiring a C++ Software Engineer to join its high-performance engineering team in New York. Founded over a decade ago, the firm runs systematic, high-frequency strategies across global markets and is known for its strong engineering culture and collaborative, low-ego environment.

The Opportunity

You’ll play a key role in modernising a core trading and research platform that underpins a growing alpha business. The platform enables researchers to explore, test, and deploy sophisticated trading signals and strategies across asset classes — all while operating within highly competitive latency constraints.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll build and evolve the systems that directly impact live trading.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Developing and maintaining low-latency C/C++ trading systems used in live HFT environments
• Improving platform performance, stability, and scalability
• Profiling and optimising critical paths across the trading stack
• Working with advanced networking technologies (e.g. FPGA, kernel-bypassing drivers)
• Participating in rigorous testing, code reviews, and design discussions
• Taking ownership while collaborating closely with traders and researchers

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years’ experience building HFT or low-latency trading systems
• Strong C/C++ skills (modern C++) in a Linux environment
• Experience with performance profiling and optimisation
• Solid understanding of multithreading, IPC, and object-oriented design
• A strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar
• High attention to detail and a mindset focused on building, learning, and improving
