Product Manager (Burbank, CA)

Optomi, in partnership with a leading entertainment company, is seeking an experienced Product Manager to support the development and evolution of next-generation media mastering and distribution platforms for a leading entertainment organization. This role focuses on internal, enterprise-grade software used to create, manage, validate, encrypt, and deliver digital content for theatrical and streaming distribution. The Product Manager will own a vertical of product applications end-to-end, shaping product vision and roadmap, translating complex operational requirements into scalable software capabilities, and driving execution in close partnership with engineering and media operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the product vision and roadmap for media mastering and packaging workflows supporting digital cinema and distribution formats (e.g., DCP, IMF).
  • Translate studio, post-production, and distribution requirements into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria, covering metadata management, versioning, validation, encryption, and delivery workflows.
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog across mastering, QC, automation, and distribution modules to ensure continuous value delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, media operations, localization, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, automated, and standards-compliant platforms.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Represent the voice of operational users (mastering operators, QC teams, localization vendors) and incorporate feedback into product decisions.
  • Define and track KPIs such as processing throughput, error rates, validation success, and delivery turnaround time.
  • Champion automation and efficiency initiatives to reduce manual QC effort and accelerate content delivery.
  • Stay current with relevant industry standards and emerging media mastering technologies to ensure ongoing compliance and scalability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Media Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner supporting media supply chain, mastering, or digital distribution platforms.
  • Strong familiarity with digital cinema and mastering standards, including DCP, IMF, CPL/PKL structures, encryption, and key delivery workflows.
  • Experience working with SaaS architectures, cloud-based media storage (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob), and high-throughput file transfer technologies (e.g., Aspera, Signiant).
  • Proven experience managing Agile teams developing web-based tools and APIs for content mastering, QC, or delivery pipelines.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical teams and operational stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver scalable, high-quality products in deadline-driven environments.
  • Familiarity with modern AI-assisted tools used in software development or product workflows.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a studio, post-production, media technology, or content distribution environment.
  • Knowledge of media asset management (MAM/DAM) systems, transcoding workflows, and metadata validation tools.
  • Familiarity with HDR formats, audio channel mapping, and subtitling or closed caption standards.
  • Experience supporting localization, versioning, and territory-specific mastering at scale.
  • Understanding of cloud-based automation and containerized media workflows (e.g., AWS Batch, Kubernetes, Fargate).
  • MBA or product-focused certifications (CSPO, PMP) are a plus.
