Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Contract)


Contract Length: 10 months

Day Rate: Up to £500 per day

Location: Hybrid – Remote with 1 week per month onsite in Dublin

Role Overview

We are working with a global investment company seeking an experienced Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join their Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning function on a long-term contract.


You will work within a cross-functional squad of Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists, delivering scalable, production-grade AI/ML solutions that support core business and client-facing services. This is a hands-on role covering the full end-to-end ML lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and ongoing optimisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain production ML systems in a cloud environment
  • Contribute across the full ML lifecycle, including data pipelines, feature engineering, model deployment, monitoring, and retraining
  • Develop and operate MLOps pipelines to support reliable model delivery and inference
  • Build and maintain cloud-based data and analytics platforms to support ML workloads
  • Develop and deploy APIs and microservices to serve ML models and data products
  • Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality AI/ML solutions
  • Provide technical leadership, supporting best practices, code quality, and architectural decisions
  • Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, scalability, and performance


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience as a Machine Learning Engineer working on large-scale, production systems
  • Proven hands-on experience across the end-to-end ML lifecycle
  • Solid experience with AWS cloud services, particularly for data, analytics, and ML (e.g. S3, EC2, Lambda, Glue, RDS/Postgres, EKS)
  • Strong MLOps experience, including model deployment, tuning, monitoring, and inference
  • Experience building and deploying data pipelines and working with data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake)
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working across multiple data platforms
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (e.g. Jenkins or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Kubeflow, or similar)
  • Strong API and microservices development skills using Python and/or Java (Spring Boot)
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)


Nice to Have

  • Experience with ML platforms and tooling (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, MLflow, Seldon, etc.)
  • Exposure to cloud-native AI services (e.g. Textract, Comprehend, Kendra, Azure Cognitive Services)
  • Experience working within financial services or investment environments
