Position OverviewWe are seeking a motivated PS Core Network Engineer to join our Swiss Core Network team based in Zurich. You will work in an international, fast‑paced environment and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and customer engineering groups. You will contribute to planning, delivery and stable operation of packet‑core solutions, proactively drive improvements and take on responsibilities beyond the core job scope.

Description

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, design and deliver end‑to‑end Packet Core products and solutions (5GC, PCF, PCRF) to ensure reliable and scalable network operation
  • Lead and provide technical expertise for major network deployments, upgrades, migrations and expansions
  • Participate in testing, troubleshooting, validation and rollout of new core network features and releases
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation: design documents, runbooks, procedures and handover packages
  • Follow internal processes and use company systems to support project delivery and change management
  • Act as technical interface to customer engineering teams and support technical escalations
  • Support automation, optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operations and deployment efficiency

Required Profile (must‑have)

  • Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on experience in network operations, engineering or delivery projects (preferably core networks)
  • Proven practical experience with 5GC / Packet Core products
  • Solid knowledge of PCF/PCRF and familiarity with VoLTE / VoNR call flows
  • Strong IP networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP) and Linux/UNIX command‑line experience
  • Basic understanding of telco cloud concepts, virtualization and container platforms
  • Self‑starter with a flexible working style and ability to work independently in a dynamic, customer‑facing environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in German is an advantage
  • Eligible to work in Switzerland

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Huawei NFV/IMS products or other vendor core solutions
  • Familiarity with cloud‑native technologies (Kubernetes, CNF/VM operations)
  • Experience with automation/orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD) and monitoring platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
  • Relevant certifications/training (e.g., 3GPP, CCNP, Linux, 5G/Packet Core)
  • Customer-facing or project delivery experience in multinational environments
