DWDM Engineer

We’re looking for a highly skilled Optical DWDM Engineer to join our team and support the design and deployment of advanced Data Center Interconnect (DCI) and long‑haul optical transport networks. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands‑on experience in Cisco NCS 1000 / NCS 2000 platforms and deep knowledge of CTP‑based optical design.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and supporting high‑capacity optical networks using Cisco’s DWDM technologies. Your work will directly contribute to building scalable, reliable, and future‑ready optical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design DWDM optical circuits for DCI and long‑distance telecom environments using CTP design files

• Use Cisco Optical Network Planner (CONP) and Cisco Transport Planner (CTP) for network modeling, import, and optimization

• Plan and configure optical line systems across NCS 1000 and NCS 2000 platforms, including hardware layout and circuit creation

• Perform multilayer OTN + DWDM design for end‑to‑end transport solutions

• Work closely with cross‑functional teams to deploy and maintain high‑capacity optical networks

• Produce design reports, BOMs, and configuration files for implementation and provisioning

• Troubleshoot and fine‑tune optical performance, including ROADMs, amplifiers, and spectrum management

• Stay up to date with Cisco DWDM advancements such as Flex Spectrum and CDC (colorless, directionless, contentionless) capabilities

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience designing DWDM networks on Cisco NCS 1000 and NCS 2000

• Proficiency with CTP files and importing designs into CONP

• Solid understanding of ROADMs, amplifiers, transponders, and optical transport technologies

• Familiarity with Cisco Transport Controller for circuit creation and node turn‑up

• Knowledge of OCHNC, OCHCC, and related optical circuit types

• Experience working with multilayer OTN/DWDM designs

• Hands‑on experience with network management or automation tools for Cisco optical platforms

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent)

• Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE)

• Experience with Flex Spectrum, SSON, and advanced optical features

• Understanding of metro and long‑haul DWDM design principles
