# SRE/DevOps Engineer (LATAM-based ONLY)
We’re hiring an SRE/DevOps Engineer to own and harden our infrastructure, build and validate contingency and disaster recovery plans, and operationalize secure CI/CD and observability. This role will protect uptime and compliance as our user base grows.
Responsibilities
- Own and document the contingency and disaster recovery plan; run, pressure-test, and iterate on fire-drill exercises and runbooks
- Review, harden, and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, or similar) to improve resilience and reproducibility
- Implement and enforce infrastructure security and compliance controls to meet HIPAA, CCPA, and GDPR requirements (auditable configurations and documentation)
- Integrate automated security checks and test suites into CI/CD pipelines (mini-smoke, regression) to prevent unsafe deployments
- Design and roll out observability: logs, metrics, dashboards, and alerting with incident playbooks for effective on-call response
- Automate repeatable operational tasks and eliminate manual runbooks where feasible
- Collaborate with engineering teams to remediate risky shortcuts (secrets, IAM, backups, and cost anomalies) and improve operational practices
- Produce clear, up-to-date runbooks, postmortems, and compliance artifacts for audits and leadership review
Requirements
- Based in LATAM ONLY (required)
- Fluent English required. Our team is based in the US.
- Demonstrable experience owning disaster recovery and contingency planning; able to show or describe runbooks and executed drills
- Strong infra-as-code expertise (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, or equivalent) with examples of hardening and resilience improvements
- Practical experience implementing infrastructure controls and documentation for HIPAA, CCPA, and GDPR compliance
- Proven experience integrating security tooling and automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Solid observability experience: setting up dashboards, alerting, and incident response playbooks
- Automation-first mindset: strong scripting or engineering skills to remove manual toil
- Systems-thinking ability: able to map architecture, anticipate failure modes, and prioritize mitigations
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment and iterating quickly (move-fast, learn-fast attitude)
Nice to Have
- Prior SRE or DevOps role in high-growth startups
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud-native patterns, and managed cloud services (AWS)
- Familiarity with SRE practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs) and running on-call rotations
- Public examples of infra/automation work (GitHub, PRs, or shared runbooks)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $2,500 USD/month for the first 90 days, then $3,000 USD/month after ramp; annual performance review and potential increases
Team / Reporting
- Reports to: Head of Engineering
- Works closely with: Head of Engineering, engineering teams, and leadership on product resilience and compliance
Location / Work Type
- LATAM-based (remote); full-time
