Key Responsibilities

• Oversee projects from early planning and design stages through construction completion, commissioning, and final handover.
• Manage the appointment and selection of consultants and contractors, including qualification reviews, tender assessments, and commercial negotiations.
• Direct preparatory and enabling activities, early contractor involvement, demolition scopes, and acquisition of long-lead items.
• Guide design coordination for major infrastructure systems, including substations and electrical distribution networks.
• Control site logistics and maintain effective coordination with authorities, neighbouring properties, and external stakeholders.
• Build, lead, and manage site-based supervision teams, consultants, and specialist partners.
• Deliver complex upgrades within operational facilities, including electrical capacity increases and cooling system expansions.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure adherence to safety standards, construction quality, and programme milestones.
• Plan and manage the installation, testing, and commissioning of critical systems such as generators, EPODs, and busbar networks.
• Create, track, and update fully integrated project schedules to support on-time delivery.
• Administer project budgets, procurement strategies, cost reporting, forecasting, and financial controls.
• Verify that construction activities align with approved drawings, technical specifications, and quality procedures.
• Work closely with internal departments to ensure alignment across design, operations, security, and procurement functions.
• Contribute technical input and documentation to support bids, tenders, and future development opportunities.
• Produce clear progress updates, dashboards, and executive-level presentations for key stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Recognised project management certification such as IPMA Level C or equivalent.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale construction programmes (minimum five years).
• At least ten years’ experience managing projects of moderate to high complexity.
• Solid technical understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems, infrastructure design, and power generation.
• Demonstrated experience working with turnkey delivery models, contractor management, and procurement planning.
• Previous involvement in live operational or mission-critical environments is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of regional construction legislation and contract frameworks, including ÍST-30 and ÍST-35, is advantageous.
• Experience in commercial negotiations, contract administration, and claims evaluation.
• High level of proficiency in project and reporting software including MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and ACC.
• Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal; additional languages are beneficial.
• Willingness and ability to work full-time on-site across Iceland or the Nordic region.
• Additional certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are considered an advantage.
