Senior Data Scientist
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to advance how devices are identified, classified, and understood through data‑driven techniques.
In this role, you will work with large‑scale, network‑derived datasets to design and evolve statistical, logical, and behavioral models that significantly improve the accuracy, consistency, and coverage of device classification.
You will own initiatives end‑to‑end—from exploratory analysis and model design to implementation, validation, and continuous improvement—translating complex network signals into reliable, high‑quality classification outcomes that scale across diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze device behavior and network metadata to uncover insights that enhance device identification and classification.
- Design, develop, and maintain device fingerprints, rules, and classification content with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
- Research and onboard new device types, vendors, operating systems, and functions to continuously expand classification coverage.
- Apply data science techniques—including statistical analysis, machine learning, and pattern recognition—to identify gaps and propose measurable classification improvements.
- Take full ownership of classification initiatives, from investigation through production‑ready delivery.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering and data teams when needed, while operating independently on day‑to‑day analytical work.
- Adapt classification logic and analysis to customer‑specific network environments and constraints.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, or equivalent senior‑level practical experience.
- Hands‑on experience applying ML or AI techniques to classification, anomaly detection, or behavioral modeling.
- Background in cybersecurity, networking, IoT/OT, medical devices, or large‑scale device identification.
- Experience working with classification frameworks, taxonomies, or structured content systems.
- Familiarity with large‑scale data processing and/or cloud‑based analytics environments.
- Strong expertise in computer networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DHCP, TLS, HTTP, ports/services, protocol behavior, fingerprinting).
- Advanced data science and analytics skills, including Python, SQL, feature engineering, and exploratory/advanced analysis.
- Proven ability to design and maintain rule‑based fingerprints and classification logic.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive complex technical initiatives end‑to‑end.
- Strong analytical mindset with clear, concise communication skills.
