JOB DESCRIPTION
Oracle utilizes internal owned data center locations and third-party external data centers managed by co-location service providers. This position will be responsible for the leadership and development of teams, products, and services within the Global Physical Security (GPS) operations line of business, with specialized functional expertise in data center operational security, guard force management, crisis management programs, risk assessments, incident response and investigations. The qualified candidate will report directly to VP, Global Security Operations. This is a new position with a regional remit and the incumbent will have 4 direct reports based in the JAPAC region with oversight of the EMEA region, plus contracted security staff. Staff numbers are likely to increase as the overall Oracle data center portfolio grows.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Director, Data Center Operations JAPAC is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust physical security program that protects critical infrastructure, personnel, and assets across a regional portfolio of data centers. This role ensures compliance with corporate security standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements while supporting business continuity and operational excellence. Up to 25–40% regional travel, depending on project and operational needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Program Management
- Develop and execute global physical security strategies aligned with corporate and operational objectives.
- Establish and maintain physical security policies, procedures, and standards for data center environments.
- Partner with regional and site-level security teams to ensure consistent implementation of security measures across all facilities.
- Lead risk assessments, threat analyses, and security audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Prepare and manage the regional data center security operations program budget.
- Performs additional functions as directed by the VP, Global Security Operations as necessary to achieve assigned business objectives.
- Oversee access control systems, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, and perimeter protection systems.
- Manage incident response for physical security breaches, coordinating investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure 24/7 operational readiness through effective staffing, training, and emergency response protocols.
- Collaborate with facility management and IT teams on physical and logical security integration.
- Oversee security vendors, integrators, and guard force operations, ensuring performance and compliance with SLAs.
- Partner with construction and operations teams to design and implement physical security systems in new builds and retrofits.
- Maintain compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS) and local regulations.
- Prepare executive reports, metrics, and dashboards on security posture and incident trends.
- Support internal and external audits of physical security controls.
- Serve as the key liaison between Global Physical Security, Data Center Operations, Facilities, and Risk Management teams.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to regional security managers and site security leads.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in security management, Criminal Justice, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience in physical security management, with at least 3 years in data center, critical infrastructure, or high-security environments.
- Strong understanding of physical security technologies, access control systems, and integrated security networks.
- Proven experience managing global, regional, or multi-site operations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- CPP (Certified Protection Professional), PSP (Physical Security Professional), or similar certifications.
- Experience with global data center providers, hyperscale cloud environments, or colocation operations.
- Knowledge of security standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, or TIA-942.
- Familiarity with emergency management and business continuity planning.
