Client Context

A leading European organization is modernizing critical operational platforms while maintaining legacy systems essential for mission-critical operations.

They seek a DevOps Engineer to join a specialized team handling both traditional tools and cutting-edge cloud-native practices, bridging legacy maintenance with CI/CD automation and infrastructure modernization.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and automate deployment pipelines for proprietary legacy tools (scripting, batch processing, configuration management).

• Implement CI/CD workflows integrating legacy systems with modern containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Develop IaC (Terraform/Ansible) for hybrid on-prem/cloud infrastructure supporting operational simulators/validation platforms.

• Collaborate with software engineers to containerize and modernize legacy applications while ensuring zero-downtime deployments.

• Monitor and optimize hybrid environments (performance tuning, logging, alerting across legacy and cloud stacks).

• Support operational teams with troubleshooting complex legacy-to-modern integration issues.

• Document automation processes and contribute to team knowledge transfer on legacy tool ecosystems.

Must-Have Skills and Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with Veracruz (or equivalent proprietary legacy operational tools) including scripting, deployment, and maintenance.

• Strong DevOps automation: CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Azure DevOps/GitLab CI), IaC (Terraform, Ansible), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting (Bash/Python), and hybrid infrastructure management.

• Experience modernizing legacy systems toward cloud-native architectures (Azure/AWS, multi-cloud familiarity).

• Practical knowledge of monitoring/logging (Prometheus/Grafana/ELK) in mixed legacy/modern stacks.

• Excellent problem-solving for complex integration challenges between legacy tools and modern DevOps practices.
