Senior Android Architect – 12-Month Contract (Dublin)

Location: Dublin (Hybrid/On-site depending on client)

Contract Length: 12 months (strong extension potential)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Android Architect to lead the design and delivery of large-scale Android applications. This role is hands-on but also highly strategic, requiring someone who has led Android teams, defined mobile architecture, and driven best practices across complex enterprise environments.

You will work closely with product, backend, and UX teams while providing technical leadership to Android developers and shaping the long-term mobile roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Android architecture for a large-scale mobile application
• Lead and mentor a team of Android developers, setting coding standards and best practices
• Drive technical decision-making around modern Android development
• Work hands-on with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to deliver high-quality, performant apps
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, iOS, Backend, QA, DevOps)
• Ensure scalability, maintainability, security, and performance of Android solutions
• Conduct code reviews and support continuous improvement across the team

Required Experience

• 10+ years of Android mobile app development experience
• 3+ years in a technical leadership or architecture role
• Deep expertise in:
• Android SDK
• Kotlin
• Jetpack Compose
• Large-scale / enterprise mobile architecture
• Strong experience managing or leading Android development teams
• Proven track record delivering complex Android applications in production

Nice to Have

• Experience in regulated or high-availability environments
• CI/CD for mobile, testing frameworks, and performance optimisation
• Exposure to modern backend integrations (REST/GraphQL)
