About Us
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.
We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine – in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary, and together we contribute to science and society.
Successful candidates will join the Computational Biology group, led by Prof. Antonio del Sol, which develops computational models to address challenges in stem cell research, aging and disease modeling. The group employs methodologies from different areas of mathematics, engineering, and physics, and integrates multiple sources of biological information to study biological processes at different levels of organization. For more information, please visit the group's website.
Your role
The selected candidate will be part of an European consortium of clinicians, biologists and computational scientists that aims to personalize high-dose glucocorticoid therapy in children with acute immune-mediated diseases by comparing treatment regimens and identifying multi-omics biomarkers that predict individual treatment response and toxicity.
Through integrating clinical data, patient-reported outcomes, and multi-OMICS profiles, the project will generate predictive models to guide safer and more effective, individualized steroid use. As such, the candidate will be responsible for data harmonization, multi-omics integration as well as the development of machine-learning models for patient stratification and outcome prediction.
Moreover, complex multi-layered datasets shall be integrated into clinically actionable biomarkers and decision-support tools that underpin the project’s personalized treatment algorithms.
For further information, please contact Prof. Dr. Antonio del Sol, antonio.delsol [at] uni.lu .
Your profile
Applications should include:
All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. In line with our values, the University of Luxembourg promotes an inclusive culture. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and are dedicated to upholding equality and respect for our employees and students.
