Software Engineer, Data AI/ML, YouTube Ads Relevance

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience building and deploying recommendation systems models (retrieval, prediction, ranking, personalization, search quality, embedding) in production.
  • 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 3 years of experience with large-scale data processing, data analytics, large-scale distributed systems, and machine learning or 2 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year experience with Machine Learning Algorithms, Machine Learning Infrastructure, Machine Learning Architecture, Generative AI, Generative Modeling, Generative AI Agent.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

In this role, you will be part of an early-stage effort closely tracked at the highest level of Ads leadership, deemed crucial in unlocking YouTube Ads's future $YYB growth and in building edges against other social media networks, where for the first time in YouTube Ads history, our team re-imagines ads serving as a product and service recommender system that aims at recommending ads highly-relevant to a user's recent product and service engagements and offering a delightful discovery experience with a variety of ads recommendations. You will build and evolve product and service recommendation systems that will revolutionize YouTube ads ranking and serving with improve user ads experience.Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices amongst available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency,)
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Build and deploy recommendation systems models, utilize ML infrastructure, and contribute to model optimization and data processing.
