The Senior Legal Counsel at Syntys provides strategic and operational legal support across all regional operations and markets. Reporting to the General Counsel, this senior role ensures that Syntys operates in full compliance with local and international laws while enabling commercial growth.


The Senior Legal Counsel acts as a trusted partner to executive leadership, balancing legal risk management with business objectives, and strengthening Syntys’ position as a leading digital infrastructure provider in the region.


ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Provide legal support and advice to the General Counsel, CEO, and executive leadership on corporate, regulatory, and operational matters.
  • Advise on legal risks, opportunities, and compliance issues within the data center, hyperscaler, and technology sectors.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in the technology and data center sectors, advising the General Counsel and business on implications for Syntys operations.
  • Conduct research on laws, regulations, and emerging legal trends, recommending process improvements to mitigate risk.
  • Lead and support negotiations with hyperscalers, technology partners, and major clients, ensuring favorable contract terms while escalating strategic matters to the General Counsel.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, including colocation agreements, SLAs, data hosting agreements, M&A contracts, and hyperscaler agreements, ensuring compliance with local and international laws.
  • Provide guidance on contract implementation and resolution of contractual issues, highlighting material risks to the General Counsel.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with industry regulations, local laws, and internal Syntys policies.
  • Manage external counsel for specialized advice or dispute resolution under General Counsel oversight.
  • Support legal guidance on tenders and commercial transactions to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance.
  • Oversee compliance with data protection and privacy laws, including GDPR and relevant regional regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with business operations, technology, and customer agreements, escalating strategic matters to management.
  • Problem-solve independently, assessing issues, proposing solutions, and collaborating with the General Counsel on high-impact decisions.
  • Manage litigation and research projects, coordinating internal teams and external advisors to meet deadlines and maintain quality outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including engineering, operations, finance, and business development, aligning legal advice with business priorities.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • 7+ years of legal experience in senior legal or in-house counsel roles within the data center, technology, telecom, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven experience negotiating with hyperscalers and technology partners, including colocation and complex service agreements.
  • In-depth understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape for data centers, hyperscalers, AI-driven solutions, and technology infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate complex contracts, particularly related to data centers, colocation services, cloud, and AI solutions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior counterparts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical, risk-focused approach.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection, cybersecurity, AI governance, cloud computing, and emerging technology regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-value matters in a fast-paced regional environment, working effectively with senior leadership and external partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.); a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Data & Technology, Telecommunications, or related fields is preferred.
  • Bar membership in an EU, UK, US, or another internationally recognized jurisdiction (preferred).
