Role Overview
We are looking for a Network Engineer to provide Hands & Feet (H&F) onsite support for network infrastructure activities. The role involves physical and basic logical support for network devices under the guidance of remote network teams and project engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Onsite Network Support
- Provide hands & feet support for network and telecom equipment at client site
- Rack, stack, and cable network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, access points)
- Perform patching of copper and fiber cables as per network diagrams
- Install and label network hardware and structured cabling
Device Installation & Maintenance
- Assist in installation, replacement, and relocation of:
- Routers
- Switches
- Firewalls
- Wireless Access Points
- Support hardware upgrades such as memory, modules, line cards, and power supplies
- Perform visual inspections and basic troubleshooting of network hardware
Remote Support Coordination
- Work closely with remote network engineers during:
- Device configuration
- Troubleshooting calls
- Network migrations and cutovers
- Provide console access and remote hands support when required
Testing & Troubleshooting
- Perform basic connectivity tests (ping tests, port status checks, link light verification)
- Replace faulty cables, SFP modules, or hardware components
- Report faults and escalate issues to L2/L3 network teams
Documentation & Reporting
- Update asset records and maintain inventory of network devices
- Capture photos, serial numbers, and port details during installations
- Provide activity reports after each support task
Site Compliance & Safety
- Follow site access procedures and safety guidelines
- Ensure proper cable management and neat rack layout
Required Skills & Technical Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLANs)
- Familiarity with network devices from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Fortinet
- Understanding of:
- Structured cabling
- Fiber and copper patching
- Rack installation standards
- Ability to use console cables and basic terminal tools
Experience Required
- 2–4 years of experience in network support / field network engineer / onsite support roles
- Experience in data center or enterprise network environments preferred
- Prior hands & feet / remote hands support experience is a strong advantage
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Networking, Electronics, or related field
- Networking certifications such as CCNA (preferred but not mandatory)
Soft Skills
- Good communication skills to coordinate with remote teams
- Ability to follow technical instructions accurately
- Willingness to work in shifts or after-hours during network changes
