Position: Java Application Engineer

• Start date: March 2026
• Contract: 9 months (possible extension)
• Workload: 100%
• Location: Zurich (3 days onsite, 2 days WFH)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Java developer to contribute to a Spring-based finance transformation initiative, developing business features and services within a microservices architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop data integration and business services using microservices.
• Ensure applications meet performance standards and pass functional and non-functional testing.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and build processes.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to support TDD and continuous integration.
• Conduct code reviews to enforce quality, consistency, and best practices.
• Diagnose and resolve bugs and incidents efficiently.
• Apply expert-level knowledge of Java frameworks, tools, and application architecture to technical decisions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Java developer in modern application development.
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture, ideally using Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with backend development and relational databases (PostgreSQL or Oracle/PLSQL).
• Solid understanding of relational database design and optimization.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing.
• Agile/Scrum experience, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Cloud-native development and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Microsoft Azure experience.
• Messaging/stream processing architectures (e.g., Kafka).
• Frontend development with Angular.
• CI/CD pipeline expertise, including automated build, test, and deployment.
