Role

The Game Tribe is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to collaborate closely with engineering leadership and other senior engineers to build and evolve core game services. In this role, you will contribute to:

• Slot game engine development
• Backend microservices (e.g., fraud detection, release processes)
• R&D initiatives around game mechanics, math packages, and new gameplay features
• Hypothesis testing and fast prototyping with a PoC-first mindset

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for game and promotional features using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Build and optimize distributed systems with a focus on high throughput, low latency, and scalability.
• Lead technical decisions and contribute to the evolution of SaaS platforms and core services.
• Collaborate with a distributed, cross-functional team and proactively suggest technical and architectural improvements.
• Ensure high standards of code quality and architecture through reviews, SDLC best practices, and automation.
• Own quality end-to-end: write unit, integration, and e2e tests; drive observability and performance monitoring.
• Participate in on-call rotations to maintain system reliability and availability.

Core Backend Engineering

• 5+ years of professional experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming patterns (Promises, streams; RxJS is a plus).
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and distributed architectures.
• Solid experience with RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis), and analytics/columnar databases (ClickHouse, Redshift).
• Proven track record of delivering production-ready systems, including testing, observability, and performance tuning.
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong skills in system design, API design, and understanding of network protocols.

Nice to Have

• Experience with enterprise and microservices patterns at scale; familiarity with DI frameworks (e.g., Inversify).
• Exposure to Event Sourcing and CQRS.
• Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Performance engineering and active production monitoring (metrics, tracing, profiling).
• Knowledge of security best practices and industry standards.
• Prior experience in the iGaming domain.
