Release & Quality Manager - Kongsberg Maritime

The Release and Quality Manager is responsible for defining and implementing the release and quality assurance (QA) strategy for K-Sim Engine and Cargo Simulators (ECS) product development. This role ensures that all software releases meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and compliance. The position also includes line and functional management of QA engineers and ownership of the test automation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Release Management

• Define and maintain the release strategy for K-Sim products, ensuring timely and high-quality deliveries.
• Coordinate release planning across development teams, QA, and stakeholders.
• Establish and enforce version control, branching, and deployment processes.
• Monitor release readiness and manage risk mitigation for production deployments.
  
  

Quality Assurance Leadership

• Develop and implement QA strategy aligned with product and business goals.
• Oversee functional and non-functional testing processes, including performance, usability, and compliance testing.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements for maritime simulation systems.
• Drive continuous improvement in QA practices and tools.
  
  

Team Management

• Act as line and functional manager for QA engineers, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance management.
• Foster a culture of quality and collaboration across teams.
• Define competency development plans for QA staff.
  
  

Test Automation Strategy

• Own and evolve the test automation framework and strategy.
• Promote automation in regression, integration, and system testing to improve efficiency and coverage.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated testing into build pipelines.
  
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with group manager, product manager/advisors, developers, and support teams to ensure quality objectives are met.
• Communicate release and quality status to stakeholders and senior management.
• Contribute to both product and development teams.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor or Master degree in Software Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in release management and QA leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Expertise in test automation tools and frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with maritime simulation systems
