Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Opus Recruitment Solutions
Australia · Full-time · Mid-Senior

We're partnering with a fast‑growing AI and emerging‑tech consultancy on a mission to help organisations work smarter, adopt AI with confidence, and evolve without losing their humanness. They translate complex emerging technologies into clear, practical solutions that enhance how teams operate. Their approach is grounded in people‑first innovation, cutting through jargon and making AI accessible, meaningful, and genuinely useful.

About the Role

They’re looking for a curious, thoughtful AI Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence and human‑centred design. You will design, develop, and deploy AI‑powered solutions that improve workflows, simplify complexity, and empower teams to do their best work.

You’ll work closely with consultants, designers, and clients to bring AI ideas to life, ensuring solutions are practical, ethical, scalable, and aligned with real‑world needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and deploy machine learning models, generative AI systems, and automation workflows across a variety of industries.
  • Design and maintain data pipelines, RAG (retrieval‑augmented generation) architectures, and model evaluation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with strategy and consulting teams to translate business challenges into AI‑powered opportunities.
  • Create responsible, safe, and human‑centred AI features that enhance, not replace, people.
  • Run experiments, validate performance, and iterate quickly with end‑users to ensure practical impact.
  • Stay across emerging AI tools, trends, and ethical considerations to guide clients in making informed decisions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience developing and shipping ML/AI systems in production environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Strong familiarity with generative AI, LLMs, embeddings, prompting, and/or vector databases.
  • Understanding of practical AI deployment, including MLOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow).
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences.
  • A mindset aligned with their values: practicality, curiosity, clarity, and keeping humans at the centre.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building agentic AI or automation workflows for business processes.
  • Background in consulting or client‑facing technical roles.
  • Knowledge of AI ethics, responsible AI, and safety practices.
  • Comfort working in fast‑moving, ambiguous, problem‑solving environments.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Help shape how organisations adopt AI, responsibly and realistically.
  • Join a team that values humanness, creativity, and continuous learning.
  • Work across diverse challenges, industries, and emerging technologies.
  • Flexible work design, supportive culture, and space for experimentation.
