Senior Java Software Engineer

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building large-scale big data services and pipelines using Scala for one of our most innovative clients. You will develop algorithms to match and conflate data, detect anomalies, and continuously improve system scalability, performance, and efficiency. A key focus will be reducing processing time to ensure data remains as fresh and accurate as possible.

You will also be expected to proactively identify improvement opportunities, such as automating existing processes, defining requirements for new functionality, and contributing to solution design. This role suits someone who is quick at identifying solutions, enjoys creative problem-solving, and thrives in complex technical environments.

• Design and develop big data pipelines and services using Scala and JVM-based technologies
• Build and optimize algorithms for data matching, conflation, and anomaly detection
• Improve system scalability, performance, and data processing efficiency
• Identify and propose process improvements and automation opportunities
• Contribute to solution design and requirements definition
• Collaborate closely with other experienced developers in a team-oriented environment

• Ability to take ownership and adapt to different responsibilities with a “do what it takes” mindset
• Strong programming and software design skills
• Deep knowledge and extensive experience with the JVM, preferably using Scala
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in English
• Experience with one or more frameworks such as Spark, Akka, or Play
• Experience with big data ETL processes and data streaming
• Permanent residency in Sweden or willingness to relocate, preferably near Malmö (on-site role)

• Event streaming experience (e.g. Apache Kafka)
• Experience designing and implementing APIs and REST services
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases
• Experience or understanding of applying Machine Learning or AI to large-scale data
