About the Role

As an engineering leader, you’ll be responsible for shaping Juphy AI’s technical direction, scaling the AI commerce platform, and ensuring the infrastructure is robust enough to serve thousands of Shopify merchants globally, and ultimately build Juphy’s API for AI search engines.

This role is for a builder + leader. Someone excited to write code daily while also setting the long term technical vision and building an engineering team from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

• Own the Technical Vision: Drive architecture, infrastructure, and security to scale Juphy AI across thousands of merchants.
• Build & Ship Fast: Contribute directly to backend, frontend, and AI workflows.
• Scale AI Workflows: Optimize how the AI Sales Agents leverage LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic) and vector search (WeaviateDB).
• E-commerce Integrations: Expand Shopify ecosystem integrations, APIs, and extensions.
• Reliability & Security: Ensure uptime, performance, compliance, and enterprise-grade trust.
• Build & Lead Team: Recruit, mentor, and manage engineers. Create a culture of velocity and ownership.
• Work Closely with CEO: Partner on product strategy and align roadmap with growth targets.

What We’re Looking For

• Technical Leadership: 5+ years proven experience scaling SaaS or AI platforms.
• AI & Data Skills: Deep understanding of LLMs, vector databases, and real-time inference.
• Full-Stack Ability: Comfortable across backend, frontend, infra, and cloud.
• DevOps Mindset: AWS, CI/CD, monitoring, and cost optimization experience.
• Startup DNA: You move fast, take ownership, and thrive in uncertainty.
• E-Commerce Background: Shopify or other e-commerce integrations are a strong plus.

Tech Stack Required for the Role

Backend & AI: Node.js, AWS, LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic), vector databases (Weaviate)

Frontend: Custom JS widget (Juphy.js), Vue.js, React Native, Shopify Polaris

Infrastructure: Cloud-native infra (AWS, Hetzner), CI/CD (Jenkins), Cloudflare, Nginx
