Capalo AI is a fast-growing energy technology company scaling software that actively operates large-scale battery energy storage across Europe. Our platform is already live in production, supporting real assets in real energy markets as renewable generation and grid flexibility needs accelerate.

As we grow, we’re building robust cloud-based backend systems that handle real-time data, market interactions, and high-reliability control flows. Backend engineers at Capalo work close to production systems, solving practical scaling and reliability challenges where software decisions have direct physical and commercial impact.

ROLE MISSION

As a Backend Engineer focused on Cloud Infrastructure, you’ll help build and scale the core backend systems behind Capalo Zeus VPP™. Your work will support the real-time infrastructure that enables our AI models to operate large-scale battery assets across multiple energy markets.

This role goes beyond feature development, you’ll contribute to the reliability, scalability, and operational stability of a platform already running in production. The systems you build directly support grid flexibility and renewable integration, giving your work clear, real-world impact as energy storage becomes a critical part of the future energy system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain backend services using Python and modern backend frameworks
• Take end-to-end ownership of backend components, from implementation to production support
• Build, deploy, and operate services in a cloud environment
• Contribute to a fast-moving engineering team by learning quickly and executing effectively
• Collaborate across the stack and step into diverse technical challenges as needed

BONUS POINTS

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts (e.g, Terraform), or a strong interest in learning them
• Exposure to event-driven systems or scalable backend patterns through work, studies, or personal projects
• Experience integrating backend services with external APIs or systems
• Interest in industrial or energy-related protocols (such as MQTT or IEC 104) is a plus
