We have an immediate opening for a Software Engineer on the Windows Cloud Streaming and Graphics Team.
We strongly believe that shifting workloads to the cloud is the future of computing. In the Cloud Streaming and Graphics team, we are leveraging the power of Azure to enable customers to work from everywhere on even the smallest, lowest powered devices. We build key technologies for low-latency streaming, innovating in areas such as real-time graphics, network resiliency, and video codecs, and bring powerful cloud compute anywhere through products such as Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop.
We are looking for a software engineer with a solid C++ background and passion in some or all of the above areas to complement our team and join us on this exciting journey!

Responsibilities
- Developing the next generation of cloud streaming technology for VDI experiences.
- Designing, implementing, and evolving new tools and techniques to analyze and improve the visual quality and responsiveness of cloud streaming.
- Working in close partnership with a team of diverse and talented peers in various disciplines including design, hardware, Program Management, and Software Development for sustained long term success, and partnering with your peers and technical leadership to deliver solid technical designs and architectures.
- Working on all aspects of Software Development including design, implementation, testing, maintenance, documentation and delivery.
- End-to-end ownership of your engineering activities and deliverables, from ideation to delivery.
- You are expected to be a self-starter, capable of solving ambiguous and challenging technical problems with wide scope.
- You will be expected to lead by example and maintain the standard and craftsmanship embodied in our products.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of relevant professional software development experience
- Solid C++ development and debugging skills.
- A proven ability to work in a team environment on a shared code base.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Travel: Occasional travel (0% to 25%) is expected in this role.
- 4+ years of relevant professional software development experience.
- Experience developing, debugging, profiling, and optimizing code on different hardware platforms running the Windows operating system.
- OS networking stacks (on any OS).
- Video codecs and low-latency, high-throughput video encoding/decoding.
- Machine Learning and its application in networking and/or video/audio.
