The Project Director is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale project in Luxembourg, from early design and permitting through construction, commissioning, and handover. Acting as the single point of accountability for the client, the Project Director leads multidisciplinary teams, manages key stakeholders, controls risk and budget, and ensures the project is delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest technical and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Governance
- Overall responsibility for programme, budget, quality, and risk
- Establish and manage project governance, reporting, and decision-making frameworks
- Act as senior escalation point for technical, commercial, and contractual issues
- Ensure alignment with client objectives, business case, and delivery strategy
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the trusted senior interface with the client (CTO, Engineering, Real Estate, Operations)
- Coordinate with authorities, utilities, and third parties (planning, grid, environmental bodies)
- Lead negotiations with EPCs, designers, vendors, and contractors
- Manage stakeholder expectations across international and local teams
Technical & Delivery Oversight
- Oversee all disciplines: CSA, MEP, Electrical (HV/MV/LV), Mechanical, ICT, Security
- Ensure compliance with data center standards (Tier, redundancy, resilience, uptime)
- Drive design coordination from concept through IFC and construction
- Supervise commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and handover to operations
Commercial & Contract Management
- Manage contracts (EPCM, Design & Build, multi-package strategies)
- Control cost, change management, claims, and variations
- Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and risk exposure
- Ensure commercial transparency and robust cost reporting
Permitting, Sustainability & Risk
- Lead permitting strategy in line with Luxembourg regulations
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and ESG requirements
- Drive sustainability targets (energy efficiency, carbon reduction, water strategy)
- Maintain and actively manage project risk registers
Required Experience & Profile Experience
- 15+ years in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
- Extensive experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or complex industrial projects
- Proven leadership on €100M+ projects (design & build, EPCM, or client-side)
- Experience working in international, fast-paced environments
- Experience in Luxembourg
- Engineering, construction management, or equivalent technical education
- Strong understanding of Data center architecture and critical systems, Power infrastructure (grid connection, substations, redundancy), Cooling strategies and energy efficiency, Phased delivery and live-environment constraints
- Strong executive presence and decision-making capability
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and tight timelines
- Comfortable operating at C-level and board level
- English: fluent (mandatory)
- French and/or German: strong asset
- Luxembourgish: asset, not required
