Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer

Job Description

As we continue strengthening NATEK’s core infrastructure, we’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer to join us in a flexible, part‑time capacity (approx. 10 hours/month).

This role is ideal for a skilled freelancer who enjoys high‑impact work with full autonomy, contributing expertise across Linux systems, virtualisation, automation, and monitoring. You’ll have the opportunity to take end‑to‑end ownership of a modern, evolving environment - shaping the stability, performance, and security of platforms used across the company.

Your Responsibilities

Infrastructure, Servers & Virtualization

• Manage and monitor Proxmox VE virtualization clusters, ensuring high availability and

optimal performance

• Administer and troubleshoot bare-metal servers (e.g., OVH), including remote hardware

management

• Support migration or interoperability with VMware or Hyper-V when needed
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux systems across physical and virtual environments
• Maintain standalone Windows Servers (non-Active Directory) as require
• Deploy and operate Docker-based workloads, ensuring containerized services run reliably

within the broader infrastructure stack.

Linux, Web Hosting & Application Stack

• Administer Linux/Unix servers hosting web services (Nginx, Apache, PHP)
• Configure development-related components such as PHP, Nginx, PostgreSQL, MySQL, RabbitMQ,

WebSockets

• Perform OS patching, upgrades, hardening, and performance tuning across environments

DevOps, Automation & CI/CD

• Develop and maintain Bash automation scripts to streamline operations
• Assist with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI
• Support and maintain Docker-based environments
• Collaborate closely with development teams, providing infrastructure support for web

services and deployments

Networking, Security & Access Control

• Configure and manage VPNs, secure connectivity, and user permissions
• Maintain firewall rules and apply network security best practices
• Work with TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, DNS, HTTP/S, SSH
• Manage Cloudflare DNS, SSL certificates, and edge security rules

Monitoring, Observability & Reliability

• Monitor system health, uptime, and performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, ELK Stack
• Implement proactive troubleshooting and root-cause investigation
• Ensure reliable external and internal access to hosted services

Backup, Recovery & Storage

• Own and maintain backup systems for virtual machines, applications, and data
• Perform regular backup validation and recovery testing
• Support and troubleshoot storage and databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)

Internal & Development Support

• Act as a technical point of contact for development teams, helping diagnose server-side

or environmental issues

• Provide general IT infrastructure troubleshooting as needed

Our Requirements

• Strong, hands-on Linux administration experience
• Expertise with Proxmox VE or similar virtualization platforms
• Experience managing web hosting environments (Nginx, Apache, PHP)
• Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, HTTP/S, VPN)
• Strong Bash scripting skills for automation
• Experience working with Git and GitLab CI
• Knowledge of Cloudflare (DNS, SSL, edge configuration)
• Experience with backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery
• Strong problem-solving ability and analytical thinking
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ownership mindset, reliability, and a proactive approach to system stability
