Fullstack (Frontend) Engineering Internship - Content Experiences

Content Experiences is a growing multi-disciplinary group of 100+ engineers, data scientists, business developers, product designers, and product managers in Helsinki and Berlin, all working to revolutionise how Zalando connects with its customers. We’re building the future of personalised fashion experiences, going beyond transactions to inspire each individual customer with meaningful fashion moments.

As a Frontend/Fullstack Engineer Intern in our Customer Experience team, you’ll gain hands-on experience building our creator management platform that supports operations for both internal users and our partners. The platform empowers users to engage Zalando customers more effectively by delivering relevant, fresh content at a rapid pace, providing a dynamic environment with lots of learning opportunities.

While your primary focus will be crafting high-quality user interfaces using React and TypeScript, you will act as a bridge across the entire stack. You are encouraged to explore our backend and databases to understand how data flows through the platform and contribute to the full lifecycle of the features you build. This role is perfect for a frontend-leaning developer eager to learn how a complex system works from end to end.

We are looking for two fullstack engineering interns to join two teams in our Content Experience area.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Work with our Creator Management tools or Content Management Systems (CMS), understanding and optimizing how they integrate with other Zalando platforms to deliver creator content seamlessly.
• Build and improve the user interface and APIs to ensure smooth content delivery and interaction across systems.
• Collaborate with frontend, backend, design, and product teams to deliver the best user experience.
• Learn new technologies, propose improvements, and experiment with tools to optimize.
• Troubleshoot issues and document solutions for easy future reference.
  
  
  

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• As a junior, we don't expect you to have extensive industry experience, but we do expect you to embrace the opportunity to actively learn new technologies and practices.
• As a Fullstack Engineer, you will primarily drive development using React, TypeScript, and modern frontend practices, while gaining hands-on experience with our Java and Kotlin-based backend.
• You will focus on building microservices that communicate via RESTful APIs and deploying them within a sophisticated infrastructure using Kubernetes on AWS. This role offers a unique learning environment where you will have the opportunity to expand your expertise into React Native, Redux, and Scala on the job
• We work in a large and complex environment, and we expect you to communicate openly and effectively in English with your colleagues both within your team and across teams .
  
  
  

This role is based in our Helsinki office, where you’ll collaborate in person with your team a few days each week. Please note that we cannot provide relocation or residence permit support for this internship and therefore, all applicants must have the pre-existing right to work in Finland to work full-time for the duration of the program.
