Senior Android Engineer - OpsX Team - Amsterdam

This is a hybrid role. We expect you to be present in the office 2-3 days a week, with flexibility for remote work on other days.

We are looking for a passionate and talented Senior Android Engineer who is enthusiastic about building robust Android applications. If you also have some experience with backend development (or aspire to broaden your skills to periodically work on backend systems), then this opportunity is perfect for you! You will join a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers who value ownership and close collaboration.

This role balances deep Android app development with opportunities to contribute to back-end services, giving you a diverse set of challenges and ways to grow.

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality Android application used by operation teams at Dott

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to define, architect, and ship new features

• Write clean, maintainable and testable code following best practices and coding standards

• Take part in regular code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing

• Contribute to backend API design, feature development, and troubleshooting when needed

• Keep up to date with the latest developments in Android and backend technologies

• Help maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for mobile app deployment

• 3+ years of professional experience developing Android apps

• Solid understanding of Android SDK, UI patterns, networking, and data persistence

• Experience with architecting highly reactive UIs with Compose, Kotlin Flows and coroutines.

• Exposure to backend technologies (such as REST APIs, authentication, data modeling, or cloud functions)

• Eager to learn and excited to actively contribute to backend development periodically

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication abilities and a proactive approach to teamwork

• Passion for delivering polished, user-friendly mobile experiences

• Experience with backend frameworks and cloud services (Node.js, TypeScript, Firebase, GCP, etc.)

• Exposure to deployment automation, monitoring, or DevOps practices

• Contributions to open source or published Android apps
