Mobile Engineer (iOS)
This isn’t a typical mobile role.
I'm working with an established mobile security company whose product is a mobile SDK embedded directly into banking apps to detect fraud, malware, and device compromise in real time.
That means:
- Your code runs inside someone else’s app
- On compromised devices
- Across thousands of OEM / OS combinations
- While actively trying not to be detected by attackers
- And without breaking the host app, build, or performance
This is cat-and-mouse engineering, not features
The role
As a Mobile Engineer (iOS), you’ll help build, maintain, and evolve iOS components that are part of a security-critical product trusted by banks.
You’ll work closely with Product, Security, and Engineering teams to ensure the software is:
- Stable
- Performant
- Secure
- Long-lived
This is an environment where good engineering matters and mistakes have real consequences.
What you’ll be working on:
- Developing, testing, and deploying iOS tools, features, and SDK components
- Improving systems that power commercial mobile security services
- Monitoring and analysing runtime behaviour in production
- Responding to customer issues and incidents
- Working in SCRUM / Kanban teams focused on quality over velocity
- Continuously improving how mobile software is built and shipped
What we’re looking for: and you don’t need to tick every box, mindset matters more than keywords.
You likely have:
- Solid experience as an iOS / Mobile Engineer
- Strong knowledge of Swift and native iOS development
- A good understanding of the iOS platform, SDKs, and device behaviour
Nice to have (not required):
- Experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs
- Experience with real-time data processing on mobile
- Some Android exposure
- Curiosity about lower-level or systems languages (e.g. C++, Rust)
This role suits engineers who enjoy:
- SDK or platform-style work
- Security-adjacent, adversarial problems
- Performance-sensitive, OS-level challenges
- Long-lived software trusted by serious customers
If you’re looking for shiny UI or visible feature output, this probably isn’t for you. Small team, senior, few layers, €85-100k + sec's.
This isn’t for everyone, and that’s intentional. If adversarial mobile engineering sounds interesting, it’s worth a conversation.
