Senior Backend Engineer – Consent Management (Node.js / MongoDB)

We are supporting a client in building compliance-critical consent management platforms operating at scale. The team works at the intersection of privacy, data engineering, and product engineering, ensuring user consent is reliably captured, enforced, and propagated across complex digital ecosystems.

This is a hands-on senior backend role for an engineer who enjoys working on high-availability, low-latency, cloud-native systems, and collaborating closely with legal, security, and data governance stakeholders.

Location: Malmö area

Key responsibilities

• Design and build API-first backend services supporting consent and identity flows
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, including versioning and backward compatibility
• Model, manage, and optimise high-volume data in MongoDB
• Build scalable services with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and compliance
• Work with event-driven architectures and complex data flows
• Deploy and operate services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Collaborate closely with legal, security, and governance teams
• Contribute to CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence

Key requirements (must-have)

• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js (TypeScript preferred)
• Solid experience with MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, and performance optimisation
• Strong background in API development (REST, OpenAPI/Swagger, versioning strategies)
• Experience building cloud-native backend services
• Good understanding of data flows, system integration, and identity resolution
• Experience working in compliance-critical environments
