Field Test Engineer – Mission-Critical Communication Systems - NORWAY - contract

We are currently seeking an experienced Field Test Engineer for a contract role working with advanced, mission-critical voice and data communication systems used by public safety and critical infrastructure customers. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise directly contributes to systems that truly matter.

You will join multi-disciplined project teams in the post-sales delivery phase, working across installation, integration, testing, FAT/SAT, and commissioning of complex solutions from Motorola Solutions and 3rd-party vendors. The role involves significant on-site work and close collaboration with customers, partners, and suppliers, making it ideal for engineers who thrive in the field and enjoy real ownership.

Key responsibilities include:

• Implementing and delivering communication system solutions end-to-end

• Participating in and co-leading Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT)

• Installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of MSI and 3rd-party solutions

• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during deployment

• Technical documentation, change management, and project reporting

• Ensuring delivery in line with quality, health, and safety standards

We’re looking for someone who brings:

• 4–7 years of hands-on experience in telecom, IP networks, IT, or field engineering

• Strong networking knowledge (CCNA, JNCIA or higher preferred)

• Solid understanding of RF, IP transport, operating systems, and virtualization

• Practical field skills (wiring, soldering, physical installation, testing)

• Fluency in Norwegian and English

• Willingness to travel extensively (~80%)

• Eligibility for Norwegian security clearance (Norwegian nationality, 10+ years residency)

Nice to have experience with:

Mission-critical technologies (DIMETRA, WAVE/Kodiak), video security, command-and-control systems, voice logging, or LTE RAN/EPC.
