Job Title: Scrum Master

Location: Edmonton, AB (Primarily Remote)

Duration: 12+ Months (with potential for 24-month extension)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support cross-functional program review and digital transformation initiatives. You will work within agile teams to drive the delivery of high-quality services, foster collaboration, and ensure teams consistently meet sprint commitments. This role involves leading agile ceremonies, mentoring teams in Agile principles, and removing roadblocks to enable successful product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Coach cross-functional teams on Agile methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Facilitate key Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, demos, retrospectives).
• Guide product owners in backlog refinement, release planning, and road-mapping.
• Maintain delivery metrics, including sprint burndown/velocity charts, and report on progress.
• Promote transparency, manage communication, and resolve conflicts within teams.
• Participate in user research, usability testing, and other digital service delivery activities as needed.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Active Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification.
• 5+ years of experience in an Agile development environment.
• 4+ years of experience leading and facilitating Agile ceremonies.
• 2+ years of experience coaching teams on Agile methodologies and promoting collaboration.
• Ability to work remotely with occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton.
• Experience working in or for the public sector.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience delivering training via web-based tools like Microsoft Teams.
• Proficiency with Agile backlog management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with UX design, service design, or human-centered design approaches.
• Experience working in the public sector.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, methods, and standards.
